FAQs

  • We are 100% self-funded and all our time is given as volunteers. We have had wonderful companies provide services for reduced costs which we are very appreciative and we have had some screen organisations provide industry reach for our survey in July which was crucial to data collection. While we have achieved a good amount in a short time, your subscription we enable us to do a great deal more.

  • We have engaged the services of highly reputable and expert government lobbyists - Thompson & Lewis.

Thompson Lewis has strong political networks which span the New Zealand political spectrum.  They have considerable understanding of Wellington and its processes having spent significant time in senior roles in Government and Opposition, and working with the public sector.

For the past decade, they have worked for corporate clients, including some of New Zealand’s largest and most highly-regulated and complex companies, and run a number of successful political campaigns.

  • We are working with Brian Finn from Engage Group. Brian has extensive knowledge in entertainment and screen industry but particularly in and around large business and industry.

  • We have requested multiple changes to settings within the current rebate mechanisms, ultimately this is down to Minister Willis and MBIE to propose changes to the current rebate setting to Cabinet, which if they agree, small changes to many things may be instrumental to stimulate global interest in NZ as a key filming destination again. However we believe there is greater work be done to ensure long-term consistency and stability for the NZ international screen sector. We are here to try and achieve that work.

  • Screen NZ International was founded with the original intention of being business focused rather than on screen individuals. Plus there are screen industry guilds already performing a key role in supporting individuals. However there are Industry Leaders who have key relationships with global partners which take many years of experience to build, we wish to recognise these individuals and work together to be stronger in gaining the changes we need to keep NZ in the top 10 filming destinations in the world.

  • No - The Associate subscription does not have voting rights. This tier was designed specifically for screen industry affiliate organisations. We wish to have the executive committee seats to remain independent of government, as industry and business funded we can continue to be free of any conflict of interest whilst we work to lobby government and advocate for change so the industry can thrive as it should. The associate individual membership are for those who are not eligible fot he Professional Membership - this was a response to being more inclusiveness overall.

  • Screen NZ International was founded with the aim to be business focused rather than on screen individuals. There are many screen industry guilds already performing a key role in supporting individuals with their memberships. We only have individuals in one category - Professional Industry Leaders - as they have key relationships with global partners which take many years of experience to build, we wish to recognise these individuals and the work together to gain the changes we need to keep NZ in the top 10 filming destinations in the world.
