Damon Duncan | Fathom VFX

Role: Managing Partner / Executive Producer / VFX Supervisor

Region: Auckland

I began my career making graphics and animation for Natural History NZ LTD. From there I moved to Oktobor, creating CG Work for Film and TV. I progressed to the role of Head of 3D before Oktobor closed. A group of us then went on to form Assembly, an award winning design and animation company where I was an award winning live action, animation and Creative Director for over 12 years. In late 2021 we split Assembly into two parts and formed Fathom, a VFX company focussing on long form projects and providing high end VFX services for the local and International screen community.

I believe I have a well rounded view of the industry, having been involved in all aspects of Production, Post Production and VFX. I am currently the On Set VFX Supervisor for Disney’s Zombies 5 and have Supervised and Produced a large number of Commercials and Long Form Projects. I have started two successful screen based companies and worked to keep them both afloat throughout challenging industry and global times.

Dirk van den Eykel | Stagefreight

Role: Co-founder

Region: Wellington

I bring over 30 years of experience working with Production Managers, camera techs, costumers, make up teams etc. Projects range from large studio run feature films, local tv productions, supporting touring music bands and theatre productions in both in NZ and internationally. Areas of expertise – entertainment specific logistics management, budgeting, international governmental regulations relating to the industry, and developing networks to serve specialised logistical requirements.

With experience from being on the periphery I have developed the ability to understand the entertainment industry and to provide support in kind, depending on where it stands now and in the future.As co-founder of a 100% NZ based business, I’m absolutely committed to supporting NZ’s film industry compete internationally.

Mark Ordesky

Role: Producer and Managing Director of C5 Media NZ Limited (Court Five) | Wellington

Region: Wellington

I’m an American film and television producer (and former studio exec) now living full-time in Masterton. The NZ screen sector has been instrumental to my career. I remain profoundly grateful and keen to give back. My journey began with championing the early films of Lee Tamahori and Peter Jackson, and led to Executive Producing The Lord of the Rings trilogy. With U.S. producing partner Jame Fleming, we develop, package and produce films and television for traditional distributors and broadcasters as well as the global streamers. Our relationship with Disney+ has brought two productions to NZ in two years: the fourth and fifth instalments of Disney’s global musical kids franchise, Z-O-M-B-I-E-S.

In addition to my experiences in organisations like the Producers Guild of America and Producers United, which are U.S. based advocacy groups, I think my primary utility to the Executive Committee is as a prominent, long-time New Zealand advocate with an established history of making the case here and in the U.S. for the screen sector’s many strengths and its cultural and economic importance. In 2023, I served as an ambassador for Screen Wellington’s efforts to attract overseas productions to the Wellington region.
